| Herkel's fleece is extremely soft, with a small crimp and a 4 to 4.5-inch staple. | $16.00 per pound for partial fleece or $15.00 per pound for entire fleece |
Merino- Columbia Cross | 1.5 pounds |
| Over the years, I have selectively cross-bred in order to improve
the size, disposition, and confirmation of my sheep, but uppermost
was my effort to improve the wool. Each sheep is kept blanketed and
protected from sun and rain. After shearing, each fleece is expertly
skirted, so that areas containing soil or vegetable matter are
removed from the fleece, leaving only the very best, purest, and
cleanest of the wool to be offered for sale.
Though each fleece is carefully skirted,
it is impossible to avoid some dusty tips because the sheeps' trails
are
so
dusty in Summer. However, these dusty tips wash out readily,
leaving no damage to the wool.
Some of the photos of the white fleeces show a yellow cast that is not present in the actual wool. Lanolin in the wool apparently gives a yellow caste to the photos, but the wool will wash out to a brilliant white. |
